MTH Machine Description
The MTH is used for producing high quality haunched mortise and tenon joints which are used in many furniture and cabinet applications. The haunch head miters the profile for beaded face frames. The MTH can be used to produce cabinet doors and entry door products as well.
Standard Operation
The process involves loading pre-dimensioned materials into the appropriate work zones and then let the machine do the work.
Rail material is referenced against the back and side fences, and then the operator presses the start button. A CNC positioned tenon is machined into the end. After the tenon process is performed, the haunch tool is CNC positioned and moves vertically through the part machining the haunch joint. A Delrin Backer Block is used to prevent blow out on the bottom side of the material. Stile material is referenced against the back and side fences, and then the operator presses the start button.
A CNC positioned haunch is machined into the appropriate locations. After the haunch process is performed, the mortise tool is CNC positioned and moves horizontally across the part machining in the mortise joint.
What the MTH Does
The MTH is typically used to produce:
1. Cabinet Doors
2. Face Frames
3. Beaded Face Frames
Touchscreen Interface
A 15″ Industrial Color Touchscreen is used to write and store programs.
The 15″ touch screen monitor makes viewing the specific parameters of a program easy.
OPERATOR INTERFACE SCREEN
The easy to use software allows the operator to change from one saved program to another in seconds with only two touches to the screen.
A password protected edit feature allows quick and easy editing of existing programs or creating new programs. A new program can be created from scratch in a few minutes with very little training.
Standard adjustments in the software include:
1. Mortise and tenon
a. Thickness
b. Width
c. Depth
d. X axis placement
e. Z axis placement
2. Board dimensions (width and thickness)
3. Speed of cut (feed rate)
4. Password protected edit functions
5. Save/Delete programs
6. On screen graphical display of the Mortise and Tenon features
MTH MAINTENANCE SCREEN
The MTH Maintenance Screen gives you the ability to manage inputs, outputs and machine offsets.
From this screen you can manually trigger all outputs as well as visually see if the machine is seeing the inputs correctly. Here you set the machine parameters that are not as commonly used such as fence and spindle offsets from this screen.
Because this screen is password protected, you can be selective with who you grant access to it.

What Comes with the MTH
Installation & Training
One day of installation is included in price of machinery.
Customer Responsibilities:
1. Floor preparation per your needs.
2. All power supply connection per national and local codes and standards.
3. Any necessary pneumatic connections and supply.
4. Moving of the equipment which could require forklift(s), rigging, and labor.
5. Materials and tooling needed for machine testing, training, or adjusting.
Expectations
The machine will ship fully assembled, and nearly functional. Pillar Machine expects the machinery to be in place, and all the necessary utilities to have already been brought to the machine before the technician arrives. The technician will finish preparing the machine to run and instruct any machine operators in how to maintain and operate the machine properly.
Should the machine not be ready at the time of the technician’s arrival, Pillar Machine reserves the right to charge up to $1000 for itinerary changes in the case of a complete cancellation of the installation, Pillar Machine will charge the full $1600 per day rate plus all travel expenses for the return visit.
Training
Training should be attended by all individuals that need to understand how the machine functions including all Management personnel, Team Leaders, Operators and Maintenance personnel. If this machine is going in operation for multiple shifts per day, we suggest having all personal from those shifts attend this training session as well. If this is not possible and they need to be trained from the factory technician, please ask your Pillar Machine sales representative to add an additional day of training.
Details
Notes: One day of technician time is defined no less than 6 hours on-site. The technician will spend the first few hours getting the machine setup correctly and the remaining time training.
If you have purchased a custom machine that has custom tooling you have purchased, make sure to have the tooling onsite and ready for installation, prior to the installer arriving. If we purchased the tooling, it will be on your machine. Have your samples ready for the installer.
The technician has planned the day(s) to install the machine and do any training of the machine as indicated in the contract. Having your appropriate tools and equipment needed to do the install and training will provide you and the technician a smooth install.

Options for the MTH
A rear guard option adds rear guarding to the machine with hinged access doors. The doors are made of tube steel and expanded metal.
Notes:
1. This option is a welded feature installed during manufacturing.
2. Selecting this option may increase your machines lead time.
3. This option does not include an electronic interlock.
4. This option guards the machines sides and back. The top will remain open.
5. Photo may not represent the exact guard to be used in the machine.
This option adds a keyed electronic interlock to the rear guarding hinged access doors. This keyed electronic interlock switch acts as an “Emergency Stop”.
Notes:
1. Photo may not represent the exact switch to be used on the machine.
2. Selecting this option may increase your machines lead time.
This option includes additional side pressure clamps designed to remove side bend from material prior to vertical clamping.
Notes:
1. The side pressure clamps are attached to the overhead clamp assemblies.
2. This option is primarily used when processing face frames (1.500″ width material) as the longer and narrower pieces tend to have bend in them.
3. The clamps will normally remove 1/16″ bend per 1′ of part length.
4. The pressure supplied to these clamps can be adjusted by way of a pressure regulator.
