HPMT Machine Description
The HPMT is a multi-axis horizontal machining center designed to produce high quality mortise and tenon joints.
The machine can be designed and modified to meet other applications requirements as well.
Standard Operation
Parts are placed into the work zones, referencing the back and side fences. The green palm button is pressed and the clamps secure the part into place. The machining is ready to begin in the work zone.
There are 2 zones standard in the HPMT allowing for pendulum processing. While the one part is being machined, the other zone can be loaded and queued for machining.
What the HPMT Does
The HPMT is typically used to perform the following operations:
1. Drill and dowel rail ends.
2. Cut mortise and tenons on parts in 2 or more zones.
3. Drill holes, slots and grooves, including louver grooves for shutters.
4. Standard horizontal slots and holes for cabinets, shutters and furniture construction.
Touchscreen Interface
A 15″ Industrial Color Touchscreen is used to write and store programs.
The 15″ touch screen monitor makes viewing the specific parameters of a program easy.
OPERATOR INTERFACE SCREEN
The on-screen graphics of the operator interface have been designed to allow for quick programming at the machine. Typically, programs can be written and recalled in less than one minute. The Interface is open architecture allowing it to integrate with design software that can give hole locations in the form of a .xml file or a bar code (with bar code reader purchase found in options).
Standard Features in the software include:
1. Graphic interface to show where holes are to be drilled and if a dowel is to be inserted.
2. Parametric Programming.
3. Pattern Drilling.
4. Password protection of certain features/functions.
5. Online diagnostic capability (if machine is connected to an internet connection).
6. Toggle between Metric or Imperial programing parameters.
HPMT EDIT-MODE SCREEN
In Edit-Mode you have the ability to change programs and adjust hole, slot and groove locations.

What Comes with the HPMT
Installation & Training
One day of installation is included in price of machinery.
Customer Responsibilities:
1. Floor preparation per your needs.
2. All power supply connection per national and local codes and standards.
3. Any necessary pneumatic connections and supply.
4. Moving of the equipment which could require forklift(s), rigging, and labor.
5. Materials and tooling needed for machine testing, training, or adjusting.
Expectations
The machine will ship fully assembled, and nearly functional. Pillar Machine expects the machinery to be in place, and all the necessary utilities to have already been brought to the machine before the technician arrives. The technician will finish preparing the machine to run and instruct any machine operators in how to maintain and operate the machine properly.
Should the machine not be ready at the time of the technician’s arrival, Pillar Machine reserves the right to charge up to $1000 for itinerary changes in the case of a complete cancellation of the installation, Pillar Machine will charge the full $1600 per day rate plus all travel expenses for the return visit.
Training
Training should be attended by all individuals that need to understand how the machine functions including all Management personnel, Team Leaders, Operators and Maintenance personnel. If this machine is going in operation for multiple shifts per day, we suggest having all personal from those shifts attend this training session as well. If this is not possible and they need to be trained from the factory technician, please ask your Pillar Machine sales representative to add an additional day of training.
Details
Notes: One day of technician time is defined no less than 6 hours on-site. The technician will spend the first few hours getting the machine setup correctly and the remaining time training.
If you have purchased a custom machine that has custom tooling you have purchased, make sure to have the tooling onsite and ready for installation, prior to the installer arriving. If we purchased the tooling, it will be on your machine. Have your samples ready for the installer.
The technician has planned the day(s) to install the machine and do any training of the machine as indicated in the contract. Having your appropriate tools and equipment needed to do the install and training will provide you and the technician a smooth install.

Options for the HPMT
A 96″ table option will make the overall table length be 96″ instead of the standard 48″.
A 120″ table option will make the overall table length be 120″ instead of the standard 48″.
Automatic Oiler option adds a compressed air automatic oiler to the frequently used bearings on the machine. The oiler uses oiled compressed air to deliver lubrication to the linear bearings. Because of the nature of this option, the bearings operate under positive pressure making them less susceptible to dust contamination.
Notes:
- The oil injection amount can be adjusted using an adjustment knob on a pneumatic oiler at the machine.
- The oiler will operate anytime the spindle is spinning.
- The bearings that are oiled are:
a. 4 each X-axis linear bearings
b. 4 each under Drill spindle linear bearings
c. 4 each under Groove spindle linear bearings - Photo may not represent the exact oiling device to be used in this option.
- Selecting this option may increase your machines lead time.
Keyed Electronic Interlock option gives instant switch access to the rear guarding hinged access doors and acts as an “Emergency Stop”.
Notes:
1. Photo may not represent the exact switch to be used on the machine.
2. Selecting this option may increase your machines lead time.
