FNX Machine Description
The FNX is designed to notch floor corners with a ¼” X 1″ notch each side.
Standard Operation
The machine will have two notching stations allowing you to notch both corners of the cabinet floors at one time.
Machine’s width will be manually adjusted and locked into place by placing an unnotched part into the machine and manually moving both notching heads in until they cannot move any closer together due to the width of the unnotched part. This will allow you to notch both corners at one time on up to 2.5″ thick amount of parts.
The FNX performs the following operations:
1. Notch Cabinet Floor Corners, 2 at a time.
FNX PLC
The Pillar FNX machine uses a PLC control for simple and easy to use controls. PLC is an acronym for Programmable Logic Controller: an industrial microprocessor-based controller with programmable memory used to store program instructions and various functions.
Manual Controls
The FNX has simple manual controls.
Start, stop and pressure controls.

Installation & Training
One day of installation is included in price of machinery.
Customer Responsibilities:
1. Floor preparation per your needs.
2. All power supply connection per national and local codes and standards.
3. Any necessary pneumatic connections and supply.
4. Moving of the equipment which could require forklift(s), rigging, and labor.
5. Materials and tooling needed for machine testing, training, or adjusting.
Expectations
The machine will ship fully assembled, and nearly functional. Pillar Machine expects the machinery to be in place, and all the necessary utilities to have already been brought to the machine before the technician arrives. The technician will finish preparing the machine to run and instruct any machine operators in how to maintain and operate the machine properly.
Should the machine not be ready at the time of the technician’s arrival, Pillar Machine reserves the right to charge up to $1000 for itinerary changes in the case of a complete cancellation of the installation, Pillar Machine will charge the full $1600 per day rate plus all travel expenses for the return visit.
Training
Training should be attended by all individuals that need to understand how the machine functions including all Management personnel, Team Leaders, Operators and Maintenance personnel. If this machine is going in operation for multiple shifts per day, we suggest having all personal from those shifts attend this training session as well. If this is not possible and they need to be trained from the factory technician, please ask your Pillar Machine sales representative to add an additional day of training.
Details
Notes: One day of technician time is defined no less than 6 hours on-site. The technician will spend the first few hours getting the machine setup correctly and the remaining time training.
If you have purchased a custom machine that has custom tooling you have purchased, make sure to have the tooling onsite and ready for installation, prior to the installer arriving. If we purchased the tooling, it will be on your machine. Have your samples ready for the installer.
The technician has planned the day(s) to install the machine and do any training of the machine as indicated in the contract. Having your appropriate tools and equipment needed to do the install and training will provide you and the technician a smooth install.

Machine Run-Off
A full run-off at our facility in Salt Lake City is required prior toshipment of this machine. The purpose of the run-off is to ensure that all specifications are meet with satisfaction.
Pre-Run Off Requirements:
Please send adequate sample material to us 1 month prior to machine run off. This helps us provide a more realistic production run during the run-off.
Run Off Requirements:
- A qualified representative of the customer must attend the runoff to ensure that the machine is configured and performs to specifications.
- If changes to the machine are requested at time of run-off, a change order document will be created outlining the specifics of the change.
2a. If delivery date of machine is affected as result of the change request Pillar Machine will renegotiate the final payment terms. - If extensive changes are made that effect the overall performance of the machine, a second run off is required at our facility. Alternately, a virtual runoff can be done on this project if both parties agree that is sufficient to show the machines capabilities.
Options for the FNX
This option will give you six different haunch width settings for both the left- and right-hand side of the machine. The locations would be set using five air cylinders mounted in series.
The haunch widths would be as follows:
1”
1-1/2”
2”
2-1/2”
3”
5”
The haunch cutter will only cut 1.00” wide haunches so the operator would need to manually move the parts over and starting the cycle until achieving the desired haunch width.
This option will convert the machine from a dual palm button start switch to a foot pedal start switch.
Notes:
1. Selecting this option may increase your machines lead time.
Automatic Oiler option adds a compressed air automatic oiler to the frequently used bearings on the machine. The oiler uses oiled compressed air to deliver lubrication to the linear bearings. Because of the nature of this option, the bearings operate under positive pressure making them less susceptible to dust contamination.
Notes:
- The oil injection amount can be adjusted using an adjustment knob on a pneumatic oiler at the machine.
- The oiler will operate anytime the spindle is spinning.
- The bearings that are oiled are:
a. 4 each X-axis linear bearings
b. 4 each under Drill spindle linear bearings
c. 4 each under Groove spindle linear bearings - Photo may not represent the exact oiling device to be used in this option.
- Selecting this option may increase your machines lead time.
